Fender Custom Shop 59 Strat JRN Surf Green

The last of the Maple board strats.

During 1959 the Fender Stratocaster saw a major change, one that will start the biggest Strat related debate ever: Which is better, the Maple or Rosewood fretboard.

We have ordered this Fender Stratocaster Surf Green with a 56 V neck shape. In reality the shape is more of a later 50s one, as it is narrower and smaller than a typical 56 V. We actually love it, as in 59 the next were in fact pretty similar to it.

The faded Surf Green finish is really great looking, and the guitar definitely has the looks. It weighs 3.44 Kg and feels great in hand. It has lots of chime, and is voiced towards more definition in the high strings. If you're a maple board guy or gal, this Fender Custom Shop Surf Green 59 Strat is really a great one.
