All the glory of a 50s Gibson Les Paul, at a much lower ticket, with what some say is even a more comfortable neck shape...
We all (well, most of us) dream about owning an original '50s PAF Gibson Les Paul. However, with their prices at $150K or above, and constantly going up, it becomes more and more a dream and less a reality.
Gladly, there are still some gems out there, that delivers the same feeling, and as some might say, with even a tad more comfort. This Gibson Les Paul 1968 is such one.
Started its life as an all original, 1968 Gibson Les Paul Standard in Gold Top finish, this guitar had a pair of cream P90 pickups. One of the most common changes people made on these guitars, was to switch the P90 pickups for Humbucker ones. We are very happy to share, that this was the only change made on this guitar. The top finish is original (and beautiful), with great patina on the back there is some touch-up / overspray. The control cover is a repro one. Tuners, stop tail and ABR are original, so are the potentiometers and 3-way-switch.
Since the guitar was converted to a 57, the previous owner went the extra mile and also swapped the original Black Beauty capacitors with original Bumble Bees.
The reason why so many players out there actually prefer late '60s Les Pauls over '50s Les Pauls is the neck shape. In Germany, for example, you will find Gregor Hilden and Thomas Blug swear by these guitars. We also find the neck shape on this Goldtop Les Paul super comfortable across the entire fretboard.
The PAF set on this guitar is from 1959, it has repro covers and plates but that's where it ends. It is an incredible sounding set.
The guitars weighs 4,26Kg.
Shipped with its original case.
