A Rare Gibson Reissue in even rarer sunburst finish.
In the early 70s, Gibson reissued the Les Paul of the 50s. They billed the model as a 58 Reissue, but in reality it was more of a 54 Reissue: Wrap around bridge, P90 pickups. Today these guitars command high prices, and are considered some of the best Norlin era Gibson guitars. We have sold several of these throughout the years and agree: These are some seriously good sounding and playing instruments.
These Gibson Les Paul RI 54/58 are pretty rare and sought after guitars, and the one we have here is an uber rare Cherry-Sunburst one. Most of these were finished in gold and only a small amount in sunburst. While the guitar is heavily played, it is intact and shows no breaks or repairs. All the parts on this guitar were swapped by the previous owner who cared most and foremost about T O N E. It was converted to HBs so he built in our HB58/59 Set. He also swapped out all the electronics, changed the bridge to a lightweight Faber one and upgraded the tuners to keep tuning stable. This guitar has the tone to die for, and is a true work horse.
Here's a rundown of the specs of this very "non Norlin era" Norlin era guitar:
- Thin cutaway binding
-1 piece non-voluted neck with 17 degree headstock angle
- Smaller 50's size headstock
- A NON pancake 1 piece body
Weight: 4,3Kg
