Compare Pickup Sounds
Welcome to the new Tonepedia player!
With this player you can easily listen to all the pickups from the online store and compare them with each other. Here is some information about the available sound files:
All the sound files of the respective pickup type group (humbuckers, P-90, single coils, bass pickups etc.) were recorded on the same day with the same guitar by Michael Wagner and Emmanuel Knorr. This ensures the optimal comparability of the sets/single pickups. The guitars we used were deliberately not expensive "high end guitars". For the Strats, the necks were changed for each set to bring out the nuances of sound between maple and rosewood fingerboards. At times the differences may seem relatively small, but they still reflect in great detail the specific characteristics of the different sets in combination with the different neck woods.
In the center of the player, the "+ button" allows you to upload 4 sets for comparison. At the bottom, in the center you can select the playing style. On the right side you will find 3 common amp types, on which a few standard sounds can be selected from. It probably takes a few minutes to find your way around - but it's definitely worth it!
So that we can enhance your listening experience, please feel free to share your feedback on the Tonepedia player.
And finally: I strongly recommend listening to the sound files with decent headphones!
Kind regards and have fun!
Your Andreas
